Laccaria amethystina is without a doubt one of the most pretty species of fungi to be found in the UK. Every year I spot 100s of these brightly coloured edible fungi when I go out in tje woods. They shine out of the leaf litter like precious gems and are very easy to spot, as its such an uncommon colour to see in nature during the autumn months. They really stand out .. Except for when they are dry and the colour fades to a dull grey colour.
It’s a lovely sight to find a patch of these where the forest floor is covered with them.
